15 of August 2015.
The company I was working for , bankrupt and decided to close imediatelly leaving 5 people in the middle of the Greek summer, without any money as they already owed allot.
Thank God I had managed to send my son on holidays so he could’nt see our mess .
In this bad moment the famous “capital control” came in Greece, to make sure that our misery would be secure.
None could pay none, people were waiting for hours at the ATMS to get few money, the trade of goods were hardly working.
It was my name day (15/8/16) when I was sitting on my balcony alone, thinking what am I going to do with my last 50 euros .
The bell rung and it was my good friend Froso who makes most of my posters. She gave light to this difficult moment.
She draw for me a singing bird , inspired of a photo of mine, while I was singing. She put it in a nice frame and gave it to me as a present for my name day.
I was the most happy person on earth on that moment.
Later this drawing became the bird that wispers to me from my left shoulder.
As we were talking about the situation and as we both had few money left, we wanted to escape a little bit, this misery.
We decided to travel with my car to the “Music Village” . A very nice festival about music , close to beautifull Volos, in the small village of Agios Lavrentios. A true diamond . (Check out their website https://www.music-village.gr/en/)
We wanted to see the festival for one day and listen to the talented Petros Klambanis a greek bassist (http://www.petrosklampanis.com/)
So we left Athens on the 18th of August early in the morning with 80 euros in the pocket.
The weather of course it was great and our road trip full of laughs and discussions.
With Froso I can discuss about anything. But anything. She is the most open-minded person on earth.
We arrived in the afternoon and we found ourselves a place to sit under the big platan tree waiting for Petro s concert!
We then walked arround and found a nice place under a small church. We layed down to get some rest and then something magical happend.
The sweetest music from the rehearsal was going out of the next builduings windows as we were trying to take a nap. And went straight into our ears, making us more happy and more unpatiend for the concert.
When the concert started at 21.00 we were like someone put a spell on us. Smilling and gratefull for the little we had and happy till the sky.
It was a great concert.
At the end we met the musicians from distance as we were tired and flying in other worlds to talk about what we just experienced.
We only had money for 1 souvlaki…. All day without nothing. We ate our souvlaki and we returned to Athens as we didnt have more money to spend there.
I left Froso at her house at 4 in the morning, tired by happy.
Next day we were again on our balconies but we gained this lifetime experience , to be together, to this great place, listening to this heavenly music, without money in the pocket.
We ve had more since then but today FB reminded me of that day by posting the video I had posted 3 years ago.
DO WHAT YOU WANT NOW, TOMORROW IT WILL BE LATE. PERHAPS TO LATE.
LET PEOPLE COME ARROUND YOU, DO NOT BE AFRAID TO HUG AND SAY THAT YOU LOVE SOMEONE.
HAVE THE EARS , EYES, HEART ALWAYS OPEN. MUSIC CAN HEAL YOU.
I am leaving you with this great piece from Petros, the piece that we were listening while they were rehearsing and we were on the church.
